The News-Press, in Fort Myers, FL has an opening for an experienced, entrepreneurial, innovative, and results-oriented Vice President of Sales. The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience in senior advertising leadership roles with a proven track record for results. The Vice President must be able to lead the newspaper's strategy to uncover and develop market opportunities for revenue, through acquisition, retention and creative selling concepts. A strong understanding of audience-based selling is critical. Experience in developing and executing strategies across multiple platforms, including the core newspaper, niche publications, digital and new media is essential. The ability to quickly assess situations, establish superior partnerships and relationships with peers, advertisers, and key community groups is essential. Training, recruiting and development of an energetic, inspired and committed sales and marketing organization is a must. The experienced sales leader will be driven by results, devoted to client and staff success, easily shift between strategy and execution, enthusiastic about navigating in today's rapid landscape and discern top opportunities to exceed goals. The Vice President is responsible for the development and implementation of both advertising strategies and total newspaper initiatives and serves as an integral member of the Newspaper's Operating Committee. Position reports to the President and Publisher.


Directs all retail, classified, majors and national print and digital sales and service functions of The News-Press, its various non-daily publications and digital products and is responsible for increasing top-line revenue across the multiple platforms.
Analyzes marketplace and competition to determine most effective pricing and sales strategies.
Develops focused sales strategies with the sales staff to ensure the newspaper is investing sales time in areas with the greatest opportunities.
Identifies opportunities and develops sales strategies for increased advertising revenues; develops and positions different products and pricing programs to address needs of small, mid-sized and large advertisers; optimizes programs and tools to achieve goals.
Identifies, plans and implements digital advertising strategies across all platforms designed to meet and exceed stated goals and objectives.
Provides ongoing sales training and support to sales and management teams to ensure advertising sales success and development of staff.
Manages department revenue and expense budgets.
Trains, motivates, recruits and develop an energetic, creative and committed sales staff.
Works effectively with the President and Publisher, the local Operating Committee and Corporate Advertising and Marketing to develop and implement new or expanded products and sales programs to achieve the audience and revenue targets identified through the planning process.
Works to improve advertiser acquisition and retention.

Bachelor's degree in advertising or marketing preferred.
Qualified candidates will have 10 years of experience in developing and managing a results-oriented advertising sales organization and will have strong sales and marketing skills.
Candidate will have demonstrated strong leadership abilities and excellent strategic planning, analytical, financial, sales management and communication skills.
